OutWest Coffee Meet-ups

The OutWest Sligo sub-committee have started hosting bi-weekly coffee meet-ups at Penny Café in Sligo. Every second Saturday from 12 to 2pm, members of the LGBTI+ community of Sligo gather on the veranda along the Garvogue river for coffee and chats. The first two meetings on the 19th of June and the 3rd of July were attended by members of the Sligo Pride committee, and they hope to continue to attend in the coming weeks.

If you’re a member of the LGBTI+ Community in the Sligo area looking for something to do this Saturday the 17th of July, why not join us? You can meet and hang out with other members of the community and enjoy some good coffee, or perhaps some elderflower fizz. Sometimes, there’s even cupcakes and dogs…

Bring your friends, bring your pride, and don’t forget to bring a mask. I’ll be there, will you?

Walk and Picnic

Hosted by Outwest Mayo

Last Sunday the 13th of june some of our committee took a trip over to Castelbar to attend the walk organised by the OutWest Mayo subcommittee. It was a breath of fresh air. The sun was shining and everyone seemed to be in a great mood because of it.

This is the first time I have been at anything since everything shut down and I can tell you that I was glad to be out again. There were all age groups in this nice small group of ours, some even brought their dogs and we were all wearing hints of rainbows.

We started at Lough Lannagh car park and took a nice leisurely pace making sure to give ourselves lots of room. The nature was a treat to look at, the water flowing down the river, the sound of the light wind through the long grass and trees, the sun shining on the smooth tarmac. Along the pathway there were metal casts of footprints on the ground, fairy houses and photo viewing stands. We stopped on the foot bridge for a quick photo and then headed back to the car.

From there we headed into town to grab a coffee and some cake in The Brewery Cup and then strolled over to the Mall to lay down our blankets on the grass and enjoy our picnic. Time flew by as the kids played nearby and the clouds passed overhead. We were all talk about pride with hopes of the parade going ahead for Mayo, as it is the first to hold an in person one on 10th of July in Westport. With Mayo’s pride parade going ahead it makes it all very exciting for other Irish pride festivals and their events. I would like to thank the Mayo OutWest subcommittee for inviting us to this wonderful event.

The Sligo OutWest subcommittee will be hosting a coffee morning starting this Saturday the 19th of June meeting in Penny Café from 12pm-2pm and every two weeks after.

Come join for some tea and chats.
